“Throughout the country, foundations, nonprofit board directors, and managers are realizing that, in the long run, nonprofits’ ability to deliver programs and services is only as good as their overall institutional health, durability, and competence.”
-Susan Kenny Stevens
“Nonprofit Lifecycles: Stage-based Wisdom for Nonprofit Capacity”
In other words, “capacity” or capability is essential to a nonprofit’s success in all of these areas. The Nonprofit Management Fund gives small and medium-sized nonprofits the resources to be able to address capacity building in these areas and carry out their missions more effectively.
The Greater Milwaukee, Faye McBeath and Helen Bader foundations launched the Nonprofit Management Fund in 1994. Since that time, other funders have joined the collaborative and the fund has invested more than $8 million in agencies in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Waukesha and Washington counties. Today, it continues to support capacity building for small and medium-sized organizations within the nonprofit sector in these communities.
As of 2017, the Nonprofit Management Fund granting cycle has changed. There will only be four (4) cycles per year.

First time applicants must first create an organizational profile before receiving access to the grant application. Not to be confused with the application itself, the profile provides necessary general information about your agency that is not contained in the grant application.
