Unwrapping the gift of opportunity

What would you call the chance to climb to the top of a light house, pet a sting ray, study a Rembrandt and play in a kid-sized home town all in one day? We call it the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Gifts to the Community, which this year featured free admission to the Port Washington Historical Society’s Port Exploreum and 1860 Light Station, Discovery World, Milwaukee Art Museum and Betty Brinn Children’s Museum all on Oct. 15. Nearly 12,000 people shared this opportunity to explore these signature lakefront destinations. Presented in partnership with Fund for Lake Michigan, the event emphasized family fun, community spirit and the great regional resource we have in our Great Lake.
