Early Childhood Education: A Vital Economic Development Strategy

  • Early childhood education gives parents the means to participate in the workforce and provide for their families. The sector’s substantial impact on both household finances and the broader economy means complex solutions are needed that incorporate formal research, local/neighborhood experience, and industry business models while balancing the interests of employers, working families and the sector as a whole
  • Ensuring that employers and the communities that supply their workforce communicate, build trust and co-design solutions could help shape a comprehensive approach to supporting accessible and affordable early care and education that works for employers, employees and whole communities
  • With many Black and Brown children in Milwaukee receiving personal or family early child care and education, better communications channels are needed with and among these informal networks for greater understanding and support
