At the “Salute to Hank Aaron Night” at Milwaukee County Stadium on Sept. 17, 1976 in front of 55,000 fans, the Milwaukee Brewers announced that it created a Hank Aaron Youth Fund at the Milwaukee Foundation in tribute to the home run king. The fund, later renamed the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Fund, has helped youth summer campers to pursue their dreams, set up six endowed scholarships at various colleges in Wisconsin and supported the MKE Fellows program to promote internships and mentoring for African American male college students from Milwaukee.
