Goals

To create safer campus environments by increasing transparency, enforcement, public awareness, interagency coordination of advocacy efforts, and on-campus counseling services to prevent violence and support survivors. The fund and application process will be managed by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation.

Grantmaking priorities

  • Funds may be requested for advocacy service programs by universities and colleges for up to five years; these institutions may request up to $200,000
  • Preference will be given to proposals that reflect evidence-based strategies and practices for preventing and responding to rape and sexual assault violence
  • Priority will be given to areas of greatest need, greatest impact, capacity building and to applications including collaboration with a local sexual assault advocacy agency

Evaluation criteria

Proposals will be evaluated by the Aurora Health Care Better Together Fund Advisory Committee of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation using the following criteria:

  • Expansion for increased sexual assault service provision to the campus community
  • Development or expansion of advocacy services
  • Enhancement of the safety of the campus and surrounding community
  • Creative approaches to increase awareness, visibility and utilization of sexual assault services
  • The organization’s capacity to meet the project goals described in the RFP
  • Plan for sustainability of the services beyond the one-time investment
  • Efforts and engagement in campus sexual assault awareness, education, and/or prevention

Eligibility

Grants will be made to eastern Wisconsin universities and colleges.

Please note: The applications in no way constitute an agreement between Aurora Health Care and/or the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and any entity submitting a proposal. Information contained in the submitted applications shall be used only for purposes of responding to a request for funding. Entities selected to receive funding may be required to enter into an agreement to complete the donation described in this process. Aurora and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation reserve the right, in their sole discretion, to cancel any application at any time during the proposal submission, selection, or negotiation process.
