Purpose of Bucyrus Foundation Grants

The Foundation’s primarily supports projects which train or strengthen the local workforce for the area’s economy, particularly for the manufacturing sector. This includes STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) based projects which provide training and hands-on experience.

Secondarily, the Foundation supports projects that spur business ownership and development, particularly in lower – income communities.

Projects in other areas might be considered, as funding permits.


The foundation funds nonprofit organizations designated as federally tax exempt under section 501c3 of the IRS tax code. Occasionally government organizations may be funded.

Service Areas

Projects must primarily serve residents of the Milwaukee metropolitan area.

Grantmaking priorities

The foundation gives priority to projects falling into the following areas:

  • Workforce Development (particularly in manufacturing)
  • STEM-based projects
  • Business development in low income-communities

Funding will not be provided for:

  • Religious or sectarian purposes
  • Debt reduction
  • Endowments
  • Political matters

Application Process

All requests must be submitted utilizing the Bucyrus Foundation online application. Choose either the standard application or the capital project application.

First time applications must first complete an organizational profile.


A final report providing a narrative and financial accounting of the project is required.
