Background

The Foundation is providing resources to organizations working creatively and equitably to help address growing violence and promote violence prevention and community healing. This unique grant opportunity, provided through the MKE Responds Fund, supports organizations in Milwaukee working to address the root causes of violence and its devastating effects.

The Foundation seeks to reach groups and organizations that will place the voices of people traditionally left out of community decision-making at the center of the proposed project's planning, implementation and results.

Eligibility

The fund will consider proposals from groups, agencies and organizations with a charitable status as determined by the IRS internal revenue code 501(c)3. Please note: Entities that do not have this designation may use a fiscal sponsor (organization recognized as a 501(c)3 charitable entity) to serve as the recipient and manager of the grant. Eligible nonprofits must have a board membership of at least 10 percent people of color. The term "people of color" refers to all persons not categorized as white by the U.S. Census.
