Mellowes sets gold standard for volunteer leadership

A passionate volunteer and philanthropist, Linda Mellowes received the Foundation’s 2016 William C. Frye Award for her deep commitment to the community. Mellowes is known for bringing together people and organizations, particularly to advance work in health care, education and human services. Among her many leadership roles, Mellowes served on the Greater Milwaukee Foundation Board for 12 years and also has raised millions of dollars for Milwaukee-area organizations like the United Performing Arts Fund and the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County. The William C. Frye Award honors those who through their volunteer work have made the region a better place. Frye was a prominent community leader who served as chairman of the Rex Chainbelt Company and the Foundation’s Board. The award was presented at the Foundation’s annual Lunch with the President event on Oct. 6.
