Impact investing expands to $30 million program

Leveraging the success of a $1 million pilot, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation is expanding its impact investing program to a $30 million initiative over the next five years. In the context of the current public health, social and financial crises, impact investing is among the strategies the Foundation can deploy to fuel an equitable recovery in our region.

A gift that keeps giving

A new snow leopard cub has been born at the Milwaukee County Zoo, and her whole family has a special connection to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation. Our centennial Gifts to the Community helped bring the cub’s mother, Orya, and father Asa, to the Zoo several years ago, and our staff received the honor of naming their new addition. Pairing investment and advocacy in early childhood education

The Foundation’s collaborative efforts to advance early childhood education include leadership and participation in the MKE Civic Response Team, a cross-sector coalition working to coordinate immediate relief to the community as well as long-term systems change. Team members are engaging in advocacy at the state and federal levels to support and sustain the early childhood sector.

Insight for improving African American well-being

According to “The AALAM/UWMCED Index of African American Well-Being in the Nation's Largest Metropolitan Areas,” Milwaukee can improve conditions by intentionally focusing on black leadership and educational attainment while reducing metro area residential segregation. The Foundation supported the work of the African American Leadership Alliance Milwaukee, which commissioned this new research.
