Serving community amid coronavirus outbreak

Friends of the Greater Milwaukee Foundation:

The values and connections that make us Greater Together are as important as ever as our global community copes with the effects of coronavirus/COVID-19 on our way of life. As we have for 105 years, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation will continue to serve our local community in these demanding times, though we all understand that for now, service may not look entirely the same.

Learn about the Foundation’s comprehensive response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Greater Milwaukee.

Throughout this rapidly changing situation, we will keep the care and safety of our staff, donors, partners and broader community central in our minds as we fulfill our mission. We recognize that the pandemic is causing a range of needs in our region, and our team is hard at work identifying the appropriate roles the Foundation should play and how we can best support our community.

Under all circumstances, the Greater Milwaukee Foundation will continue to conduct the business of your community foundation.

In that context, it is important we share the following information:

The Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s physical offices and convening spaces in Schlitz Park are indefinitely closed to ensure the health of staff and the community we serve. All Foundation staff are working remotely.

  • To further accommodate social distancing efforts and curb the spread of the virus, the Foundation anticipates:
    • The cancelation or postponement of all Foundation led or sponsored events, including donor, grantee and community events, convenings and visioning sessions through Aug. 15. We will evaluate this decision and assess later events as new information and guidance becomes available.

Foundation staff are available to serve.

The Foundation is financially sound.

  • Foundation investment strategies are designed for long-term growth, the mitigation of market losses and the probability of thriving upon a return to market stability.

Take care of yourself.

Thank you to all in our community who have been leading by excellent example and working diligently to preserve the well-being of our region and beyond.
