Greater Together Awards recipients have been strengthening community for decades

This fall, the Foundation honored five remarkable people for their contributions and commitment to the Milwaukee community and beyond through the organization’s annual Greater Together Awards. Through philanthropy, professional and community leadership, Virgis and Angela Colbert, Mark Eppli, Carmen Pitre and Ness Flores have been at the center of generational change in this region.

Seventeen small businesses receive loans from Foundation

For the 17 recipients of ThriveOn Small Business Loans from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, access to new capital is offering the opportunity to reopen, hire or sustain or improve business operations in a variety of ways. The Foundation has deployed a total of $780,000 in low-interest loans with favorable terms through the program so far, all supporting businesses owned by people of color.

Foundation briefs – Big stories in little packages

A passion for nutrition education leads a family to use their donor advised fund at the Foundation to make a leadership gift to Hunger Task Force. FOX Sports honors a baseball legend by donating to the Foundation’s Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Fund. Milwaukee Succeeds receives a prestigious honor from the national network StriveTogether for leading equitable outcomes in our community. And president and CEO Ellen Gilligan visits The Truth 101.7 FM.
