Impact in action
Through our Cinematic Sisterhood series we were able to bring Rachel Talalay (director of Tank Girl, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, etc) to Milwaukee to share her journey with our audiences as she strives to make the films she envisions in a male-dominated field. “We need more films from women filmmakers,” one attendee told us upon hearing Talalay speak after a screening of Tank Girl, “and not only that, we need them to be given the creative license to make what THEY want. So much of this film, even in the face of adversity, is brimming with energy and passion that you can see carries on to other films made by women.” Bringing guests in to speak with our audiences gives them a glimpse into the creative process and inspires artists of all generations. Another attendee described “the wondrous feeling of watching an absolutely fearless woman. Never experienced that in 70 years!”
